Data Protection 5.1 doesn't works

Hello,

I've installed for my first time VDP and I'm not able to make it working. I have installed and configured the appliance following the docs. I can connect to it, create a backup job, but every job fail.

I have not found any useful logfile into the appliance (/usr/local/avamatclient/proxy-xx directory).

Simply my job start and fail immediately.

All VM are into workgroup (no AD) and there are not an internal DNS name resolution. I had to configure DNS server only for the VDP appliance.

Attached the VDP console screenshot and one log found into /usr/local/avamatclient/proxy-xx

Does anyone can help me ?

Hello -

From reading the information you provided, my initial guess is that you might be encountering the issue described here:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=2037003&sl...

If that is not the cae, when you start a backup job, there should be a log created in the /usr/local/avamarclient/var-proxy-?  subdirectories.  The log file will be named based on the name of the backup job.

If you are able to grab that log and either send to me via PM or append here, then I can look further.

Otherwise, if you want, you can collect the log file bundle from the VDP-configure UI and submit a support case with VMware support.

Thanks,

Solved ! All my problems was due to a DNS resolution. I have populate VDP hosts file and now all seems to works.

thank you.
