Keyboard malfunction on Workstation 9.0.1

I have got at new laptop computer and is transferring my virtual machines to it.

One of the virtual machines shows a strange malfunction: It works like the [fn]-key is continuously pressed in the guest OS, e.g. resulting in the JKL keys to return 123 insted of JKL. All other virtual machines works flawlessly.

Both computers are running Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) as host OS, and all guess are Windows 7 (64 bit) as well.

I really hope that somone can help!

Problem solved.

It was simply the NumLock key that "activated" by the guest when the virtual machine started.

I have no idea of why this is the case with this single guest, when all other guests are not having this issue.

The default behavior for the NUM key is off when a virtual machine is created and powered on.

You can boot into the virtual machine BIOS and change the default behavior.

VM > Power > Power into BIOS

Change the Keyboard features on the Main Tab. Set NumLock to Off.

Note: Please do not consider my comments/suggestions as an official response from VMware.

I already know this setting, and that is not the answer to the problem.

The NumLock setting is set to "Off" in the guest as I allways do.

Thomas
