Plan and Design Services Kit for vSphere 5

In vSphere 4 there was a kit called the:

"

Get Plan and Design for vSphere 4 Services Kit R1

That you could get on partner central.  Is there such a kit for vSphere 5 as well?

The only thing I see is "VMware vCloud Plan & Design Service Materials"

which is focused on vCloud Director and higher level management tools.  It seems like this would be good overall design material to be aware of for VCDX.  Anyone have any info on where this went in vsphere 5?

Thanks

Log in to Partner Central, then look under the "Sales" tab.  Then find the "Solutions Enablement Toolkits".  Then look under "Infrastructure Virtualization Library".  The "VMware vSphere Plan and Design Service Delivery Kit"

is part of the Infrastructure Virtualization Library.  However, only certain partners have access to

"VMware vSphere Plan and Design Service Delivery Kit"

There are 5 pieces to the Infrastructure Virtualization Library and the

"VMware vSphere Plan and Design Service Delivery Kit"

SET is only one of them.  You don't get all 5 pieces automatically just for having a partner central account.  Your company must have a certain partner status and have the "Infrastructure Virtualization" competency before you will have the option to download

"VMware vSphere Plan and Design Service Delivery Kit"

However, if your company doesn't have the right status to be able to download it, check this link:

http://store.vmware.com/store/vmware/en_US/pd/productID.224267000/

That allows you to purchase the Infrastructure Virtualization Library directly from the VMware store.

In any case, the

"VMware vSphere Plan and Design Service Delivery Kit"

Solutions Enablement Toolkit has the best template I've found to use for mapping to the content of VCDX.

There is a word document in it called "vSphere Architectural Design".  That is the specific document in the

"VMware vSphere Plan and Design Service Delivery Kit" that gives you what you want.

Are we allowed to use content from the Delivery kits in our applications? IE, things like the design and operational validation frameworks (providing that it was customized for the design / customer)?

Yes, you are. It is the format that VMware expect the design to be submitted.

Does anyone know if there is a 5.1 version?  The current version is just 5.0.

This would be helpful to know as 5.1 contains single sign-on server, which introduces new design considerations

True, and the service kit for 5.0 defines a slightly different process for installation, as SSO is not involved.  The 5.0 architecture template will need to be updated to be used for any 5.1 deployment.

I have already emailed our reseller who is a partner, but they are having a tough time getting these resources or just cannot find them.  Would anyone be willing to share?

The VMware vSphere Plan and Design Service Delivery Kit for vSphere 5 or 5.5 with me, I have already began and have quite a bit of my design done, but would like to take a look at these documents as well.  We have an ELA with VMWare and wondering if I can navigate somehow to get this download.

If your reseller is in good standing and has all necessary certifications they should have access.

The material is however under IP by VMware, so they should only share a finished design, not the raw material, that is for VMware PSO and Partners running active engagements only.
