ESXi 5 on HP ML110 G7?

I know this is not supported and not in the HCL, but has anyone got ESXi 5 running on a HP ML110 G7?

If so how did you get it to install?

I've tried HPs ESXi download and VMWAREs and both of them PSOD as they boot the installer.

ESXi 5 working fine on my HP Microservers, why not my main lab machine. Smiley Sad

WOrks fine with 4.1, but as I now need to study for my VCP 5 PDQ I'd like to get this working.

I've now spent a couple of days on it and I'm at a loss.

Thanks a lot for this great posting!

I would like to add, that on my HP ML 110 G7 the orange error message mentioned

above only disappeared after I had also set the power management to "OS Controlled Mode".

After that, AND ONLY after that it worked without a hitch!!!

Maybe this helps somebody else!

Thanks a lot once again!

Hi,

from my web search so far I take it that neither HP nor VMware provide a driver for the above mentioned

raid controller which is onboard on an HP ProLiant ML110 G7 server!!??

Can anybody confirm that or is there one available?

If there's none available, what low cost sata controller for this HP Server can

be used that would have a driver for the free version of VMware ESXi vSphere???

Thx

mates,

how much power does Hewlett Packard ML110 G7 - Xeon Quad Core E3-1220 with 16GB of RAM use when idle???

/iddle and with no hdd/ssd ML110 G7 with i3-2100 DC cpu (3.1GHz) with 2x8GB (yep i can confirm that it runs ok with 32GB of ram - 4x8GB unbuffered Kingston with ECC) consume 63 Watts in iddle

I need to know how it looks with E3-1220, any owners??

thanks

Do you still need to know this? i could measure the power consumption, but my meter for that is very cheap, so i wouldn't say it's reliable. Also my server has 7 x 3,5 " HDDs and 1 SSD inside plus two NICs and one RAID-Controller. Oh and not to forgot that i use 4 x 4 GB of RAM 😉

i probably don't want to know how much that needs to be powered on... ;-$
