Proliant ML110 G5 and SMART Array E200 reporting status at last

I think I have at last managed to get reports of the status of the SMART Array on an ML110 G5, and no PSOD yet (been up an hour).

I'll post some details when I get time, and when I know its stable, but just wanted people to with this (unsupported) setup who have not been able to monitor their drive status that there may be some hope

Welcome to the Communities.

You really should create a new discussion for your questions.

ESX(i) only supports a maximum of 2TB - 512 bytes per LUN. You will need to use the Smartstart CD / ACU to break up the array into multiple virtual disks/luns.

If you have enabled write caching without having the battery module you risk almost certain datastore corruption in the event of a power failure.

Just wondering if any of you may have any ideas how to install just the drive monitorring on a non HP server?

Ihave an SA e200i in a whitebox esx5 machine..... i've got the HP bundle with the SA package in it... bit it checks the BIOS manufacturer.

I was thinking of deleting the <sysreq> section of the xml files so that it never check... but i jsut dont understanf this stuff enough... dont want to detroy my server in the process.

Cheers.

is there any way to force write cache like on the dell raid controllers through vmware?

This controller is a piece of crap, I can't find a way to enable write cache and I'm using 1.86 firmware
