Current response time from VMware Certification

I was reading a discussion on LinkedIn, here's a quote from an email sent by the Certification team at VMware in the last day:

We are currently experiencing an extremely high volume of requests.

We apologise for the inconvenience but our current response time is averaging 2 weeks from today. If you have completed your pre-requisites and taken your exam recently, please don't expect your transcript to reflect your certification until March 30th, 2012.

So please be patient if you have just passed the VCP5 exam and are waiting for official confirmation, or for your transcript to be updated.

Thanks scott.

Last couple of days most of the people are asking this question again and again.

I think they will get their answer from here.

Here's a couple of quotes from my now colleagues in the Certification team at VMware:

"We delivered a record number of exams on February due to the upgrade deadline which has result in a record number of cases.  We have as many people as possible dedicated to cases.  Patience is requested on all sides.  We are answering cases in the order in which they were received.  We request that you NOT send multiple emails on the same topic as it creates additional cases, adding to the backlog.  Those who tested by March 4th should see the transcript updated by month's end."

"Another thing that can help folks is that they can always call in, and many times depending on the issue, calling in can result in a quicker response time. Of course, if they are trying to hurry along the certification process (welcome kits, etc.) and they were part of the recent upgrade surge, calling won't speed the process up, but it might give them a more positive experience to at least talk to someone and understand the situation.  Here is the number: +1-866-377-4710."

So there you go folks!

Thank you for posting this Scott.  I passed on 3/6/2012 and have not received an email from VMware so it is nice to know the reason for the delay.

The cost of the course is far less of a problem than the cost of taking four/five days out of the office to sit in a classroom.

It was just a tongue-in-cheek way of highlighting that many of those eligible to upgrade their existing VCP4 without the requisite of the classroom course had left it until the last minute....

no offence intended.

The latest update from the Certification team:

They are still working through the processing of exams from the surge in February - 8 times as many exams were taken in that month compared to an average month. They have additional people working in the team to handle the processing and are working extra hours too to try and clear the backlog of cases.

Sending an email to certification@vmware.com is still the best way of contacting the team, but they have requested that people only email them once and then wait for their response, rather than sending repeat emails. It takes them additional time to process each incoming email and work out whether it has come from a new person or is related to an existing case they already have on their system, which adds to their workload futher and delays their exam processing.

They appreciate your patience in relation to this, rest assured they are working as hard as they can!

I am a bit concerned.  I took my test over a month 2012-02-21 ago and I still have not received any notification outside of my seeing that I passed the test while I was there.

Anyone else seeing this long of a delay?

Thanks

People are seeing delays, hence me creating and updating this thread.

If you have not yet emailed certification@vmware.com I would. If you already have, just be patient as per some of the quotes/comments in this thread.

This is a great starting point: http://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=30483&ui=www_cert

And there's a set of useful links here on my blog: http://vmwaretraining.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/useful-vcap5-dca-blog-links.html

My advice is simple - build a lab and play play play!
