after conversion chagne the controller type.
try the different controllers and that might fix it
I tried changing to BusLogic Parallel but it didn't help. LSI Logic SAS and VMware Paravirtual just got a BSOD. It's strange because I have already moved 4 different VMs off the old host onto our infrastructure environment and they had no issues.

Try to disable the automatic restart in case of a BSOD in the guest OS (before you copy/convert the VM) to see whether this helps finding out what's causing the issue. After you ran the OS repair, did you check the Windows event logs for error messages?
I found the solution to this after much trial and error configuring startup services in windows.
It turned out to be a problem with a service called polymon, which is a monitoring utility we used for some simple ping notifications. It connects to an external sql server, which wasn't available on my test boxes since I either had the NICs disabled or configured for a host only network.
To resolve I disabled the service in the vmware converter options when doing another test migration. Not sure why that service would cause the constant reboot, but glad it's solved.
