HP DL360e G8 not supported?

Hi everyone!

I bought a new server the other day;

HP DL360e Generation 8

- 1 x Xeon E5-2407

- 8GB PC3-10600

- 3 x 600GB SAS (RAID5, HP B320i smart array)

I tried installing ESXi 5.1.0 on it, but I only come as far as where you're suppose to choose install point (storage), and the list is empty. The installer can't find the raid array. I never thought checking the HCL list beforehand, as I wasn't even sure I wanted ESXi on this server. It's becoming a database server and I've read there could be problems with that. Anyhow, after further reading I decided to give it a shot.

Looking at the HCL list, my specific server isn't there. The DL360p is there, but not the DL360e. Looking at the specs there aren't much difference between them, but there doesn't seem to be any spec telling me what the actual raid chipset is on the DL360p. I'm thinking, if the P is supported, and the E has the same chip, it must be something else.

Any thoughts are greatly appriciated!

You must use the HP Customized installation ISO for installing this server. The VMware vanilla ISO does not include all the required drivers.

See my HP&VMware links page for relevant download links!
