I was wondering if multiple monitors are supported in a guest VM on VMware Workstation 8?
I basically need to emulate dual-monitor in a virtual Windows 7, while running on a single monitor host system.
Hi ahmd9,
Welcome to communites .
I think that is possible though thrid party software only.

VMs support two monitors by default, and you can increase that in the VM's settings. Since your host only has one monitor, the VM won't automatically boot with two monitors, but you can change that in the guest's display settings.

Thank you. Can you elaborate a little bit more on what setting enables it?
VM settings→Display
I'm sorry, I must not be following something, but which setting there enables what I need?
from VM menu -> Settings menu option -> Hardware tab -> Display -> Monitors : Specify settings for monitors radio button -> select Number of monitors
Sorry for this delay, been distracted by something else...
So thanks, I got to that setting. But what now? I specified 2 monitors and rebooted virtual Windows 7 but how do I use them? It still loads in one virtual window as if I had only one monitor.
Found a solution! VitualBox can do it with up to 8 monitors.
Go to the guest's display settings - right-click the desktop and click Screen resoultion. You can then turn on additional monitors there, or click Detect if no additional monitors are listed yet.
