Hello together,
I'm using FUSION since several years and was always very satisfied.
I'm currently facing the Problem, that a KOBIL Systems mIDentity card reader is always mounting 2 drives/volumes to OSX immediately after plugging it into USB port. If I try to unmount the drives, they getting remounted immediately?!?
=> FUSION has been configured to connect all USB devices directly to the XP host - it works (in general but) not for the KOBIL reader!!!
=> The KOBIL reader does not apper in XP at all.
=> Connecting the reader manually in FUSION USB settings to XP is not possible, because the reader does not appear in FUSION USB settings device list.
I believe this is, because the USB card reader does still have resources mounted/connected to OSX?!?
To permanently umount the KOBIL volumes might solve the problem, but I have really no Idea how get that done!!!
I never had a device with comparable behavior.
=> Why are the KOBIL devices get remounted after umount on OSX?
=> Why is it not possible to exclusively connect the KOBIL device to the guest OS in FUSION (it work for every USB stuff else)?
=> Can I force FUSION to occupy the KOBIL reader and connect it to the guest XP?
I'm happy about every helpful comment.
Thanx!!!
I found another topic related discussion in the FUSION forum: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1166160#1166160
But there is also no solution. It seems to be a major problem?!?
The line "usb.generic.allowHID = "TRUE"" must be added in .vmx file according to the following howto (http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-17351)
After restarting FUSION, the KOBIL mIDentity can be conneted to the guest OS.
The KOBIL mIDentity is operating as expected with guest OS --- very nice :-).
