VCP 5 & VMworld 2012

Hi all,

I've been studying hard for my VCP 5 exam i'm feeling pretty confident about the exam now.

I have the obligatory vSphere 5 Install & Config course scheduled for mid september & the exam for a couple days after the course.

With vmworld 2012 (26 August) just around the corner and with the prospect of vSphere 5.1 being released what will that mean for my exam?

There are reports of allot of new features in vSphere 5.1, will my exam be based off vSphere 5.0 or 5.1 if its released at vmworld 2012 ?

Thanks.

Usually exams are based on major versions (3.x, 4.x 5.x., ...) and contain common items. So if the next version is 5.1 you should be fine with studying for 5.0. see Re: Will VCP400 exam include 4.1 items?

Thanks André

Scott's responce has reassured me.

"There are no questions in the current VCP exam where the answer would be different between 4.0 and 4.1, the exam is a 4.x exam.

So, as an example you WON'T be asked how many hosts a distributed virtual switch can be added to, because in 4.0 it was up to 64 but in 4.1 it is up to 350. You WON'T get asked questions about 4.1-specific features such as Storage IO Control, Network IO Control, or load-based NIC teaming.

Scott."

So hopefully I wont be asked any minimum requirements where the answer would differ depending on what version of vSphere 5 the exam blueprint follows.

On VCP5 max and min are not so important.

And also note that until vSphere 5.1 will be released there could ANY question about it.

And again, VCP is usually agnostic to the minor number.
