Hello!
I'm just a beginner in ESXi virtualization world. In our firm we have 2 servers with ESXi 5.0, one is Dell and another in Intel, which have a problem with PSOD. When we install ESXI 5.0 on this server, everything was fine till last month, when the PSOD first show up. Since then almost every 5 days we have a PSOD and everything i try fail to help this mather, and i still dont know what the problem is. And the error i think is diffrent every time.
So can somebody explain why is this error happening(my thought is 1 VM)?
Server:
Manufacturer: Intel corporation
Model S5520SC
CPU cores 4CPUsx 1,866 GHz
Processor type Intel Xeon E5502 1.87 GHz
RAM 32 GB
VM:
2Disks 456GB
Ram 9GB
CPU 2virtual sockets
Sorry for my english 😃
Thanks!
You should run Memtest on the server for a few hours to see if it detects any problems with the memory. Sounds like this could be failing hardware if it worked for a long time and now fails sporatically and un-reproducibly.

Hello and Welcome to the forums.
Did you check your hardware if are compatible with ESXi5.0 ?
read this kb too please http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=102021...
solved ?
put here if you have any news.
Good luck
So i looked in compatibility of system that supports ESXi 5.0 and i didn't see model of motherboard S5520SC only S5520BC. So this means that my system is not compatible with ESXi 5.0, even thow we have ESXi OS on it 1year and no error so far?
I looked in the article that you gave me, if i'm not wrong my PCPU2 had no heartbeat for 25 seconds, so this means my CPU on 2 have a problem?
Hi there,
Did you add, remove or change any of the hardware recently?
If not, was it working when you first installed ESXi?
I hope I have helped you out

Since you have started observing the PSOD from last month only then would like to ask to check few things:-
1)Did you install any new tool/or new patch on your host.
2)Did you add any new hardware on your host.
3)Any configuration changes done .
4)Overloaded the host to its brim.
If any such things has been done to the host then please revert back the changes and reboot the host/also increase the log level to its max so that we can pin point the exact error as why the server is psoding.
In any case Server should not PSOD.
You should run Memtest on the server for a few hours to see if it detects any problems with the memory. Sounds like this could be failing hardware if it worked for a long time and now fails sporatically and un-reproducibly.

Thanks for all the answers.
OK, so i looked your answers, no new hardware was installed or removed, no new patches and the host wasn't overloaded, i will try the Memtest and i'll get back to you.
So i scand my server and everything was OK, but we converted 1 virtual machine on to other ESXI server, and now we have no problem with ESXI server.
Thanks for all the answers!
So since my last post we had a problem with our ESXi 5.0, the disks on computer were starting to disconnect from the esxi and reconnect 2h later. This slow the process of our work down and started to get more and more often. This was starting to annoy us so we decided to buy one new server like Dell that we have and the ESXi 5.0 works fine on it.
Thanks again for all the answers!
