Can Outlook 2010 notifications from host PC appear over View window?

I'm a tech resource on a non-technical team that has just started using View to access remote virtual PCs. One thing that's frustrating my customers is that their local PCs' Outlook 2010 notification pop-ups don't in fact pop up over a full screen View window.

The easiest remedy is to run the View window at less than full screen, giving Outlook some local screen real estate to use. But my customers are hoping for a solution that will let them use View in full screen mode, largely because that seems to be the best (only?) option with View's support for multiple monitors.

Is there a way to see the these notifications without relinquishing full screen mode?

Any suggestions appreciated!

What about having Outlook make a sound when a new message arrives?   That is something that can be used with the full screen mode.

Thanks for the suggestion to try audio alerts. Definitely something to keep in mind, but for this team, it's key to be able to quickly glance down and get the gist of the incoming message without changing windows.

I don't know of any options that will bring the message to the forefront.   Can you run outlook inside the VDI machine?

Unfortunately, we can't run Outlook on the virtual PC. We can run Outlook Web App there, but not Outlook.

OWA 2010 has notifications, but they aren't freestanding. They only appear within the OWA web GUI.

I was beginning to wonder about some kind of script hack to create an alternative form of notification. You can tell Outlook to run a script when a message arrives. Maybe the script could do something noticeable over the View window that Outlook itself can't do? But the script notification option is turned off in our Outlook installation.

There is a GPO for the View client named AlwaysOnTop, have you tried setting that to disabled? Note that you may find other cases where the taskbar ends up on top of the desktop display.

I would definitely be interested in seeing if this corrects the issue.

Thank you for the GPO suggestion. I'll take a run at that and report back.

First of all I apologise for reviving this thread but I came here following a link on Google. I wanted to know if in the meanwhile there is a solution for this? We have the same prob. I am currently working as a developer for a company that uses a two-monitor setup. On the host we have almost nothing more than Office and VMware Workstation and all development is done in a VM. I have a 27" monitor and a 19" monitor and I am thinking about removing the 19" monitor because it just does not feel natural on my desk. The problem is that when I am developing in full-screen and someone sends an email I don't see the notifications. We cannot run Outlook in the VM because of the fact that we are using seperate domains and it is not possible to connect to the Exchange server from within the VM.

Is there a solution for this? I am currently running VMware Workstation 10.0.3 on Windows 7 Enterprise and Office 2010, if any of that matters.
