What is the difference between cloning a powered on machine and powered off machine

What is  the difference between  cloning a powered on machine and powered off machine?

Is there a  big  differnce ?

Thewre is no difference with the ending VM - the only difference I see would be that it might take longer to clone a running VM -

Hi,

Hot cloning, can also be called as live cloning or online cloning ---> It clones the source machine while the operating system is running.

Cold cloning, can also be called offline cloning ---> It clones the source machine when the operating system is not running.

Also worth mentioning that a clone of a live machine will be 'crash consistent', not fully consistent.
