Vmware Workstation 7.1.4 with Kernel 2.6.39

Having trouble compiling vmware 7.1.4 /w k 2.6.39

I as well am in teh same boat... windows host and linux guest... 2.6.38 almost compiles, 2.6.39 fails horribly.

Does not work my friend.

Installer = VMware-Workstation-Full-7.1.4-385536.x86_64.bundle  Host = openSUSE 11.4  kernel = 3.0.0-rc4-2-desktop

Your patch-modules_2.6.39.sh

fails since

basedir=/usr/lib/vmware-tools/modules/source

does not exist!

Please modify the script after installing the above version of WS  Hopefully your .patch file itself is good.   If would love to in WS on kernel 3.0

I did following:

I installed VM Tools from Workstation 8.0 into my Workstation 7.1.5.

You can take Tools from Workstation installation or download it from VMWare update server(softwareupdate.vmware.com/cds).

It works ( of cause during) fine(shared folders, graphics,network…).

Host Windows 2008 Server, guests Backtrack 5 r2, Ubuntu 12.04.

I can’t update to Workstation 8.0 because my hardware in home is very old and it doesn’t support new version of Workstation.
