Restor vCenter 5 from Veeam Backup

We use Veeam backup 6.0 to backup alle our virtual machines.

We use VMware ESXi 5.0

Our vCenter 5.0 i installed on a virtual machine.

The vCenter server is backed up  every night by Veeam Backup.

My question is:

If our vCenter server crach, is it then possible to restore i from the backup that was made previus night?

We whant to make a full restore of the vCenter Server from our backup.

I do not know how our ESXi servers will react when the suddently see an older vCenter, we restored from backup.

Hi,

we are using Veeam B&R v6 for the last 3 years.

Lets say you have a failure of your vCenter server and there is no quick way you can solve the problem.

1. Power down Crashed vCenter server.

2. Log in to Veeam B&R

3. Click Restore and select a restore point for that perticular server

4. Restore to one of the  ESX hosts.

Now in the Event that this happens Veeam might want to see that vCenter and if it can not will not have any hosts to restore to. Then you just "Add Host" and add the ESXi box you want to restore to.

Now you can go ahead from step 3.

Wait for the restore to finish and you are done.

Some settings which you can select are " Power on VM after restore" "Connect Newtorking"

You can restore..but at a moment the as you mentioned the vCenter Server must crash,.

Restore  vCenter Server (ip must be same) and no upgrade , can manage esxi. Only newly added configuration changes may not refelect after the backup.

I never tried this, It should work Smiley Happy
