FabiorCork Jan 30, 2012 2:25 AM (in response to erasmoa)Good to hear you got sorted!
Fedora had another kernel update (again!!!) this weekend , so I'm now on 3.2.2 and VMware Workstation/Player is still working.
$ uname -r

tvlooy Apr 28, 2012 1:19 AM (in response to FabiorCork)I have vmware-vix installed. The patch script didn't detect my vmware version, I had to modify it like this:
vmver=`vmware-installer -l 2>/dev/null | tail -1 | awk '/vmware-/{print $1substr($2,1,5)}'`
But after that, it worked great. So, thank you very much!

Wendetta Apr 30, 2012 8:35 AM (in response to erasmoa)Hey guys,
I am in a standstill and here's the situation (my first take at VMWare... so be gentle):
1) OS / Kernel: Ubuntu 12.04 - Kernel 3.2.0.
2) VMware Player: 4.0.0. I have tried to download VMWare Player version 4.0.2 from the download page, but it seems that no matter how hard I try, the only available version is 4.0.0 (is 4.0.2 available only for paying customers and not for free trials or something??? )
3) Installed the VMware Player, got the installation successfull status, and when I tried to launch... vmmon compilation error

There's no patch for version 4.0.0., I cannot update, as I can't run the software and I can't get version 4.0.2 because well... I can't find it.
Anyways, if anybody can help out of this I would appreciate it.

23. Re: Failed to compile module vmmon!
Wendetta Apr 30, 2012 9:33 AM (in response to tvlooy)Any thoughts on why in the name of all that's holy, version 4.0.2 is waaaaaaay down below let's say... version 3.0.1 and 3.0? 'Cos I can't think of any logical reason...
Anyway.. thanks for literally opeing my eyes.

daddmac May 3, 2012 12:14 PM (in response to erasmoa)I downloaded player 4.0.3 today and had the same problem as with 4.0.2. The patch checks the version of workstation/player and wouldn't run.
I edited the version number in the script, ran it, and 4.0.3 seems to be running okay.
FWIW.

mclaborn May 9, 2012 6:51 AM (in response to janaka17)VMWare - are you reading this? When will it get fixed? The patch works well but it seems like you would want to fix the actual product.
