Problem with view 4.5 using a Wyse p20 - firewall/powerpoint/video Issues

Setting up a wyse p20 to use with view 4.5, I am running it via Pcoip, seems fine. I have a few questions and hoping its something easy to fix or rectify.

{FYI I am running esxi 4.0 u2 on the host and vsphere 4.1 vcenter, view 4.5, thin client wyse p20, dual monitors}

I assigned a pool of about 5 VMs I am connected to my VM no problems there. Now the 3 problems I am having are:

- if i try and ping my vm from any other machine it does not find it - if I take it out of view then its fine it can be pinged. Is there a firewall in View or on the thin client that needs to be disabled and can you tell me where I have not found it.

- my next issue is using MS PowerPoint 2010, as soon as I start PPT the screen starts flashing black until it loses connection. whats the cause of this? is there a setting I need to look at? Client or View?

- Lastly Video performance it looks and sounds great as long as the mouse is hoovering over the video? Once I move the mouse away from the video the video and sound is horrible until i place the mouse back over the video. ?? Any ideas?

Any help will be appreciated.

Hello Express,

There are various optimizations that contribute to ensuring maximum user

experience for video. These are published in the Zero Client

Optimization Guide available from Teradici.

The PowerPoint issue seems more mysterious - I recommend you contact our

Support Team (http://techsupport.teradici.com) and one of out Systems

Analysts will help review your log files and hopefully get to the bottom

of this.

Hello

We have similar problems with screen flashing when we open microsoft .xps files and the microsoft calendar printing assistant for outlook 2007!

With pps files not have problems or not seen until now.

Have you found a solution with the teradici support?

Best regards

Simon

Anyone know how the dual monitors actually work on the p20? How to resize desktop?

Hello Express, There are some troubleshooting guidelines laid out in

"Using PCoIP Zero Clients with VMware View4 User Guide" (TERA0904005)

from Teradici.

Did you ever find a solution to this?  I have just started having the same issue reported today.  We upgraded to View 5 this past weekend, so I have to wonder if it's something with the View Agent or Tools.

Other info: We have this issue on all Pools using different Parent VM's.  We have the issue with Zero clients as well as software clients.  We don't see to have the issue with Admins logged in, only standard users but I have no clue why this would be a persmissions issue.

Thanks

Craig

Ok, of course we use dual screens on all our view pools.  Since we are having the issues with the software client as well, I think it's a VMWare issue, not a Teradici one.  I guess it's time to call VMWare.

Thanks

Try this to fix the dual display issues.....

Log into your View environment through your zero client. Once you have logged in, hit the bigger button on the fron of your zero client to "disconnect" your session. Once you have disconnected, log in again and you'll see that besides your session, it will say "session in use". Log back into your session with your 2nd desktop connected. The second time you log in, your second monitor will now work with you zero client.

Any reason why you are 2 or 3 View versions behind?

This thread was started in November of 2010.  At that time I think 4.5 was current.  Either way we still had the issue with View 5.

We have found a solution that works for us however.

In powerpoint, go to Options, Advanced and click "Disable hardware graphics acceleration"

Are you using at least 2 cpus in your vms?  Hardware version 8 or 7?

Does this problem occur when you aren't using the Wyse or does it go away?

We have some pools with 1CPU and some with 2.  Same issue on both.  We had this issue on both harware version 7 and after we upgraded to View5 and hardware version 8.
