We are adding 2 new 4.1 hosts to our environment. However I just noticed that the licenses provided are for vSphere 5. Unfortunately we cant upgrade the hosts because our vCenter is 4.1 and we are not ready for that move yet.
Can the vSphere 5 license be applies to the 4.1 hosts?
you cannot use a vSphere5 license on a vSphere4 Host. However, within you license portal, you can downgrade the vSphere5 license to vSphere4 then apply the license. When ready to upgrade to vSphere5, just upgrade your license file as well.
