Removable USB CD/DVD showing up, but not showing up...

Our USB cd/dvd drive was removed, and then plugged back in. It shows up in storage devices with a new device number, but the old one is the only one that shows up when I try to let a VM use the cd. Is there a trick to this? Rebooting the host is not really an option right now.

Try to restart usbarbitrator service (from Cannot mount a USB key or disk device media to an ESX/ESXi host)

Neither link helped, or even shed light on the issue.

In the configuration tab, under devices i see it as mpx.vmhba39:C0:T0L0 and it's operational state is mounted. I still cannot see it in the settings for any of my VM's

I found a workaround until this is solved. I created a symbolic link to the device it was looking for:

ln -s mpx.vmhba39\:C0\:T0\:L0 mpx.vmhba32\:C0\:T0\:L0

Again this is a workaround. I would still like to actually solve the problem.
