I have replaced my default VC certificates with my own internal CA signed certs. I now no longer receiver a certificate warning in VC starts. However, now I am getting a certificate warning when the VUM plug-in is enabled. The message is:
The certficate received from "IP.xx.xx.xx" was issued for "FQDN". Secure communication with "IP.xx.xx.xx" cannot be guaranteed. Ensure that the fully-qualified domain name on the certificate matches the address of the server you are trying to connect to.
It would appear that I am being served the correct certificate; however the server is presenting itself as its IP address rather than its FQDN.
Has anyone come across this before?
i have exactly the same issue on vCenter, VUM 4.1.I used this tutorial http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1023011 (Section:Replacing the default SSL Certificates with Certificates Signed by a Commercial CA). Any help would be appreciated.
Same issue here!
Anyone get resolution here?
I gave up - haven't tried it on version 5 yet
I figured out the solution from another thread.
Just uninstall VUM, then reinstall and connect back to the same DB. You can fix the FQDN mapping and not have to redo any configuration.
