I have a problem migrating VMs from one machine to another.
they are brand new!
Bios has been updated to same version
Bios have the same settings set
CPUID iso says that id1ecx are different but I cant figure out why... (?)
Servers are
IBM x3650 dual xeon 5620, 72 gig ram
btw the error is:
Unable to migrate from to Host CPU is incompatible with the virtual machine's requirements at CPUID level 0x1 register 'ecx'
which I have diagnosed to be "cpu compatibility mismatch.. "
Welcome to the Community,
please double check the following BIOS settings:
NX/XD disable => enabled
Intel VT-x => enabled
After modifying any of those settings, save the BIOS and then power cycle the server! A warm boot may not be sufficient.

You shouldn't be affected by http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1011294 since this was a flaw in 4.0. However, maybe worth looking at, if the above settings don't solve the issue.
André
Hi André,
Thanks for your fast reply.
Both options have been enabled.
Shouldnt the id1ecx be the same, when the servers are identically configurered?
BTW I checked the KB and tried the resolution with no solution
Are you sure they are enabled? Your screen shots show "Supports NX / XD : No"
André
yes. i tripple checked several times - spent 3 hours yesterday checking and rechecking, troubleshooting etc..
I cant explain why it says that its not enabled..
First, when you move the host to the cluster, is the all VMs off?
Second, if they add correctly, would u please click right on Host and reconfigure the VMHA on host?
Third, if these issues work correctly, check the EVC Mode nd see if it works with evc mode or not?
Forth, i have the problem with my HP server, and found out that, this problem may occure on HP server, so i suggest check the IBM site for similar issue.
If this is hepful or correct, would u please mark it as "Helpful" or "Correct"?
Thank u
Saman
a basic test is try connect in IP of vmotion with telnet in port 8000
I found the answer with a call to IBM
Turns out that the processors are from 2 different assembly lines, which means that i had to reset all settings in the uefi before being able to vMotion..
thanks to all for the answers!
I see you got the answer,but thought i'd post solution for others - this is know issue - easy fix here:
