Dynamics AX 4.0 Slow on ESXi 5.0

Hi Guys, not sure if this is the right forums to put the question in.

I was running dynamics Ax 4.0 on a physical server and now moved it to a virtual server.

we've noticed that running reports seems to be almost 3 times slower than it used to be on the physical server.

Has anyone had similar issues and what things have you done to speed it up?

We are using the same speed disks 15k. So not sure whats happening here.

Are you using local storage, or a SAN? If local, does the RAID controller have Battery Backed Write Cache (BBWC). ESXi is nutoriously slow on RAID controllers that don't have BBWCs.

Are you comparing apples to apples?

In otherwords: same amount of CPUs? same amount of memory? same amount of spindles?

Sadly i am..........

I've got same disks, same spindle speeds, The CPU's are actually faster and also i've allocated double the RAM.

But it seems slower.... Smiley Sad

Use the vmxnet3 network adapter in your virtual machine and within the virtual machine enable RSS (receive side scaling) on the network adapter settings. This has worked for us by to get Dynamics AX 2009 atleast 2x faster!

* We use Windows 2008 R2 SP1 as guest OS
* We use SQL Server 2008 SP3 cu2 as DB (also virtual)

* We use MS Dynamics AX 2009 SP1 ru4
