iSCSI & Network

Hello,

I have an ESX server with 20 port mixed of the below model.

Broadcom Corporation Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709 1000Base-T
Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II 57711 10Gigabit Ethernet

I see these as 20 port in the network adapters view and I see it as 20 iSCSI Hardware adapter. Is this a special card that works dual mode? iSCSI & Network?

If yes, how can we check this when buying a card? Is there a special term for such cards?

Regards,

I figured it out, TOE features is available on my NICs.

It can do both, iSCSI and Ethernet.

This is a very useful feature if you are using port binding for iSCSI traffic. these cards are saving kernel resources and not using the "less" performant software iscsi port!
