EDA deployment not going well.

Hi all,

I'm new to EDA and run into some problems.

We have 20 HP dl460c G7 blades wich have to be installed with esxi 5.0

When I use the vmware iso, the install goes really well. except.. I don't have any HBA's. the HBA's are emulex type. (Flexfabric)

When I use the iso from HP the install goes wrong when copying files. error that pops up:

tardisks/ima-be2i.v00 not found.

When I download the drivers from VMware, and use image builder to add the right drivers into the vmware zip, and create a custom iso,  then the install also goes wrong with the same message..

So in short terms, the HBA drivers are killing my install, and when They don't get installed I get no SAN..

I read something about that EDA strips out HBA drivers during install but I do not have a good manuall..

Can someone please give me some advice?

THanks!

I personlly never used EDA but with vsphere 5 and auto deploy would make it a little redundant wouldt it?

What happens if you run the hp iso as a manual install? does it all work ok?

I recently installed HP's ESXi 5 image onto a heap of BL620 G7's which have the serverengine 10GB CNA cards in them (which is now Emulex after they bought them out) the HP ESXi build worked perfectly but I wasnt using EDA.

Sorry forgot to mention that..

The manual install runs like a charm, no errors or what so ever..

I cannot use autodeploy because i do not have the enterprise + license. We are going to use the machines unmanaged.

Hi all,

find it all out...

When using the default VMware image, downloaded from VMware, and NOT using the HP Iso from oktober 2011, everything is installed perfectly.

The HBA drivers are installed, SAN is working and installation runs like a charm with EDA.

i thought EDA would be superfluous too but there's one major difference between it and auto deploy. auto deploy makes the hosts kind of stateless and doesn't perform any scripting. do configure the host you need host profiles and a enterprise plus license. for everybody else the EDA is a welcome alternative i think. at least that's why i updated it Smiley Happy

We too would like to use a custom ISO of vSphere5.  Is there a setting in EDA somewhere for this?  Perhaps its a trust level thing that needs to be raised from vmware to partner?

thanks!

adding the actual error when using a custom ISO:

/cd/esx/net-qlcn.v00: file not found.

Fatal error: 15 (Not found)
