I recently attempted to update one of our Vcenter servers to 4.1 update 2 from update 1.
I got through much of the installation before it rolled back. Therer was an error code of 1063 in the windows logs without much of any detail.
The server is virtual and the SQL database is local so I was able to revert the server as the services wouldn't start after the rollback.
Has anyone else seen this and found a solution?
I guess building a new server and restoring the database and attempting to upgrade it may be an alternative.
are you using the bundled SQL Express DB? If so, what is the size of the DB currently?

No it's the full version of SQL 2005.
you have dbo on the VCDB? Your ODBC connection has tested successfully? the 1603 error as you said is very vague. You may also want to look at the article below to see if is helpful

There is nothing else installed on your vCenter Host OS besides SQL and vCenter?
Yes it has dbo and the ODBC connection test successfully.
Maybe I'll just migrate to 5 on a new server.
