Longmode is disabled for virtual machine

ESXi 5.0 is installed on Intel Modular  ( MFSYS25 ) server  which have 64 bit instruction set. Virtualization (VT) option is also enabled from BIOS but i receive following error message during the power on the  VM which created with 64bit instruction set.

"64 bit operation is not possible. Longmode is disabled for this Virtual machine"

Please help out

Please provide (attach) the VM's latest vmware.log file to see which CPU flags are detected by ESXi. Btw. which CPU do you use.

Even I am facing the same issue. I configured the setup in my lab env.

Config i5-2nd gen 3ghz

8gb RAM

VT enabled.

I installed workstation an din that i creatd a vm with esxi5, and tried to create a 64 bit OS using vi-client, but i am getting the same error. i can able to create a 32 bit OS.

by cpu is 64 bit.

You'll need to be running VMware Workstation 8.  See the additional settings for this here - http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-8970.

Thank you all for replying of my question.

This issue has been resolved. We have to add vhv.allow = "TRUE" at the end of config file (/etc/vmware/config).

In addition of my last post, you will have to reboot the host machine otherwise changing will not be affect. I get solution of this problem from the following URL.

Made the change in /etc/vmware/config file as you mentioned but i am still facing issue.

Why do you reply to a very old post without giving any of the relevant details ?

Create a new post and provide details such as ESXi version, CPU-details, guestOS you want to run and latest vmware.log from that VM.
