I tried to do a clean install of VMware ESXi 5 with LSI 9265-8i RAID card but I can't install it.
When it boots to the setup screen, the HDD RAID that I have created isn't shown on the screen.
However, I checked the VMware compatability guide, ESXi 5 does support LSI 9265-8i.
I'm wondering whether ESXi 5 really support LSI 9265-8i.
Are there any solutions for this?
I think this site might help: http://tinkertry.com/lsi92658iesxi5/
Thanks for your help but unfortunately it seems ESXi 5 already installed in this tutorial.
I have the same problem. I can't get the storage attached to the 9265 to show in the installer.
I have tried to use the custom installer available in PowerCLI. I added the driver available at VMwares homepage Drivers&Tools "VMware ESXi 5.0 Driver for LSI MegaRAID SAS Controller" version 5.34. But I still cant see the drives connected to the 9265 controller booting with the ESXi5 installer.
If I install the ESXi5 on another volume that shows in the installer, I can get the controller to work when I install drivers in the CLI. I followed the instructions in this link:

Anyone else has this problem? Or someone who has solved it?
Good news, the driver rollup handles LSI 9265-8I out of the box, so you can now install ESXi 5.0 straight to a storage device that's on the 9265-8i itself (although I prefer USB keys), if you have an enterprise login for VMware's site, reinstalling straight from bootable CD made from the ISO is now easy.
I have now updated the original post accordingly:
