I am currently getting ready to take my VCP 4 exam, and I'm just curious as to when the VCP 410 exam will no longer be available to take. I'd hate to have to take the version 5 class just cause I missed the cutoff date or something.

According to the link above, it looks like the 410 exam can be taken until Feb 29th of 2012.

Did I read that correctly?

I may be a bit paranoid...   :smileysilly:

NO... the link just say that if you are already a VCP4 you can take the VCP5 exam without course.

When the VCP4 exam will be retired is not there.

We must wait to see when it will published in the VCP4 web page.

IMHO... take the VCP4 exam as soon is possible Smiley Happy

Retirement of the VCP4 exam has not been announced, as per Andre's reply the Feb 29th date is for existing VCP4 holders to be able to get VCP5 just by passing the VCP5 exam with no formal training requirement.

Scott.

If you are a VCP 4 then you will have to the end of February 2012 to take the exam with out having to attend a class - after the end of February you will need to attend the What's New Class before you can become a VCP5

If you are a VCP 3 or not at all than you will have take a class on vSphere 5

Without being a VCP3, I am afraid you will have to take one of the vSphere 4 required classes and pass the VCP4 exam -

I agree. I doubt we'll see any VCP5 exam until Q4 2011 - that's not based on any insider knowledge, just my personal thoughts/opinion. There's plenty of life in VCP4 yet.

Scott.

Given the amount of traffic on the vSphere 5 Licensing forum, I'd say companies are going to be sticking with vSphere 4 for as long as they can.  Besides, I don't know about you guys, but I never implement a x.0 release of anything.  I'll probably wait until 5.1 or 5.5 go live before we make any changes.

It was tough studying for the VCP5 while teaching the VCP4 ICM class.  Having the Cert exam release with the product was something new. Usually we have a little bit of breathing room to get certed. As an instructor we can’t teach until we cert and sit.
