Hi,
I've been searching for some info on recommended SQL Database sizes for SRM. I have an XLS Spreadsheet for VC SQL Recommendations. Which I found here http://vmetc.com/2008/04/03/virtual-center-25-now-uses-sql-server-2005-express-as-default-database/
Is there anything for SRM? Does anyone know what the recommended minimum size is for SRM SQL DB? Any info would be helpful.
Thanks.
Unfortunately, I don't think the info you want is in the public domain...
I can't imagine that the footprint of SQL DB for SRM would be as significant as VC. After all it doesn't have to maintain so many object properties & attributes. But without further info from VMware, I'm merely speculating...
If you tell me how I find out my DB size in SQL2005. I could tell you how big my DB is - its been running for some months. It's lab environment so it won't be realistic.
Perhaps others here could report this so we could get a "feel" for the DB size and growth...
I take it there's some kind of corp standard in your business - that decrees this?
or are you just anxious about the rate of growth on the DB files???
Regards
Mike
The SRM database needs no where near the amount that VC needs.
VMware have a sizing tools for both MS SQL and Oracle - - under the Tools section
ie, 500 Protected VMs in 150 protection groups needs about 90MB at the protection site and about 10MB at the primary site
Thanks
Lofty
PS. If you found my response helpful, think about awarding some points.
