Expanding persistent disk sizes

Dear all,

I have an automated desktop pool with a persistent disk size of 2048mb. When I try to expand the persistent disk size throug view manager, only newly created machines are affected.

Even if I recompose the existings settings are not taken over.

I can manually change all persistent disks through the vsphere client and expand them in Windows  but that is not the best way of working.

Can I force these settings to existing desktops in the pool?

Running VMWare View 4.6 on ESX 3.5 Update 5 Environment.

As you have found out only the newly created persistent disk will have the increased size.  At this time if you want to increase persistent disk that have already been deployed you will have to do it through vSphere and then increase in Windows.

We've found it's best to update the pool and recreate the VMs with new persistent disks.

These days everyone should be moving away from persistent disks to solutions like Liquidware ProfileUnity and VMware User Environment Manager (UEM). VMware has mentioned at the past few VMworlds that linked clones will be deprecated in the near future. When that happens they will also likely deprecate persistent disks.
