ESXi needs VTx/Pacifica?

Searching in this forum I've found that ESXi can run 32-bit VMs even if the host does not support VT.

These answers were given in 2008. Is this still true for the latest version of ESXi?

Thanks,

yes, VT-x will allow you to run 64bit guests, without it, you can still run 32bit guests.

is this true also for the 5.0?

the intel xeon (Prestonia/Gallatin) series is not on the HCL for esxi 5.0.

I believe that ESXi 5.0 drops support for all NetBurst CPUs, whether or not they have VT-x.

That being said - they still work AFAIK
