Hi everyone,
here's the thing: i have Data Recovery installed and it works fine, but after a few days it stops backing up!
The virtual machine seems ok, the curious fact is that if i try to check the logs with VI client the data recovery "wakes up" and starts the job that didn't run in the schedule!
It's like sleeping, i don't know what to do to fix this other then scheduling a reboot every week.
Anyone experiences this before?
Can you run a job manually?
Space in the destination is enough?
Andre
I can't tell you if i can run a manually test when this happens because as soon as i get in the data recovery appliance it starts working again, i have no time to do anything before that! And then after that everything is back to normal.
There is space in the destination, that's not the problem.
Maybe the service was down.
You have only used the plugin to connected to VDR?
Andre
How many VMs are you backing up? How large is the destination disk? Where is the destination? CIFS? VMDK? Has / does the integrity check complete daily and weekly? Errors?? What times have you blocked out? Is there enough time for the backups to complete?
I also logged in with the console from command line, i didn't check if the deamon was down.
I could do that next time it happens... but it's weird how systematic this is, i am starting to think there's something wrong.
It's about 5 VMs per night.
Destination is CIFS, several hundreads of gb.
Integrity checks are good
No errors
The time is enough because when it's not it does report a specific error
The problem here is "just" that randomly it doesn't start backing up at all. I backup from 8pm to 7am
CIFS in't the ideal destination. If you have the space elsewhere I would try a VMDK as the destination.
Otherwise I would try a call to VMware support.
