vCenter Server 4.1, vSphere 4.1 Infrastructure documentation

Hello,

I would like to know best practises of documenting VMware implementation involving vSphere 4.1 Enterprise Plus, vCenter Server 4.1 with SAN and 4-6 ESXi host servers. My intention is to document the implementation of the vmware infrastructure for a client and this document then becomes an operations manual, I also want to include some diagrams such as full network diagram, Host to VM diagram, storage diagram etc.

I wanted to know are there any templates from VMware that can assist me in documenting my information, this was its presentable and also following industry standards.

How others are documenting thier vmware implementation for enterprises? what are the requirements?

If you have access to Partner Network you can use SET toolkit.

Are you hoping to create a design document before you have implemented the solution, or are you looking to document an existing solution?

I do have access to Partner Network but so far haven't used any SET toolkits, how can I access these toolkits and what are the requirements, will the toolkit fulfill my requirements of documenting vSphere implementation for large clients?

They are just simple documents templates.

Well the document am trying to prepare serves for both as a design document as well as systems operations manual for future use after implementing the solution that can be delivered to the client. This document then becomes a living document and all updates to the system requires to be updated in the document as well, therefore am looking for some standard templates to start of with where I can record all my information.

I checked out the SET toolkit and one of the requirements for me is to gain vmware competency in order to access the SET toolkits.
