Getting Error: Failed to Open Virtual Machine: Failed to Query Source for Information

When I export a VM to OVF on an ESXi 4.0 and then try to import the OVF on Workstation 7.1 or VMware Player, I receive the following message:

"Failed to Open Virtual Machine: Failed to Query Source for Information." I can successfully import that OVF file back into an ESXi server with no trouble. Does anyone know why this is happening and what can be done to fix it?

Hello.

Try using the ovftool to convert the OVF to a VMX.
