Hi Guys
Just downloaded the new version of Vmware View and i am part way through the migration process. I have recently upgraded my virtual center server to 4.1 so also had to change the host to Windows Server 2008 64 Bit using standard edition. Looking through the documentation for View Composer which has to been on the same server as virtual center it states in the OS matrix that server 2008 has to be running enterprise edition. Does this mean another re-install of my virtual center server onto enterprise edition ?
Many Thanks
Graham
I just spotted this myself. I can't think what the reason for this would be. I think that formally, to get a fully supported configuration you'd have to go to Enterprise. I'm curious though if it won't work. Maybe you could try it for me

Oh well might as well give it a try cant see what difference Enterprise would make over Standard. Will let you know how i get on

I've got vcenter 4.1 onto 3008 R2 standard. I was waiting for 4.5 to finally deploy linked desktops and now I have to reinstall vCenter?? I will try on my standard for sure...
Let me know pls
I just got off the phone with VMware technical support and he said that he is currently using View Composer in the following configuration without issue.
Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard (x64)
vCenter 4.1
View Composer 2.5
I think only problem would be vmware official support. If you have issue wih Windows 2008 R2 standard they won't assist you, cause you're out of compatibility matrix.
I hope this week I will install view 4.5 on my vCenter 4.1, I'll keep topic updated.
tnx
Mick
We tried both 2008 server, whitout result. We always get following error
We have a separate server for our oracle databases. Vcenter installed whitout problems. but we can't finish the setup of the view composer 2.5 on our vcenter server (win2008 SP2 enterprise 64bit); We made an odbc driver for our composer database (test connection works fine) , but if we want to contineu after entering the DSN info we get always the same error.
Is there someone who can help?
Hi guys
I've installed composer on Windows 2008 R2 standard and local SQL 2005 express instance. I've create a linked clone pool based on Windows XP SP3 image, everything seems to work fine. View Manager is on a virtual W2K3 Standard.
Tomorrow i'll start demo and intense usage, I'll let you know.
Mick
