esx 4.1 and ibm ds4300 SAN

Hey All

Its not on VMWare's hardware compatibility list, and i lodged a support ticket with VM and they confirmed its not supported.

Need to lodge one with IBM to see if there are any plans for them to test their SAN with ESX 4.1 so it can go on the HCL.

But in the mean time does anyone have a DS4300 SAN running with ESX 4.1?

Any issues?

I will not run unsupported hardware in a production environment, but would like to get an idea of anyones real world experiences with the two products?

Cheers

David

The DS4300 is LSI gear just OEMed and supported by IBM. But since there has been no progress in certification for ESX(i) in all the years since the models became available, I would dare to guess this will not change in the near future. You might try to ask IBM or LSI support about their experience with ESX. When attending to the Storage Networking World in 2009 in Frankfurt, I've talked to one of the presales engineers claiming that they successfully were running their SAN devices with vmware.

I can't tell much about your specific combination, but I have successfully run a DS3300 (an entry-level iSCSI variant with less features and lower performace of the same LSI product line) with ESXi 4.0.
