esxi 4.1 crash volumes disconnected, etc

I have 2 esxi 4.1 enterprise licensed hosts attached to an equallogic san.  One host crashed, which even though ha and drs was configured it left about 6 hosts that were running off the crashed host in a orphaned or disconnected state.  I restarted disabled ha/drs, restarted the host, still nothing.  I removed the messed up vms from the inventory from within vcenter.  I even pulled the host that crashed out of the cluster and re added it.  For some reason any of the datastores that the vms that are gone now were sitting on do not appear from the host that crashed.  The iscsi software adapter can see all the luns but the vmware datastores won't appear, even with a rescan, etc.  If I go to the host that has no issues, I can browse the datastores, but any folders that were setup for the vms that are disconected now cannot be browsed.  So I can't add them back to the inventory.  Anyone have any ideas?

Hi.

try connecting to your ESX host directly using the vSphere client and see if you are still able to view the LUNs.

It is possible (if you are goung through the VC) that the VC shows access ot these, but on the host, connectivity is actually lost (which could be why the VMs / ESX crashed in the first place)

Effectively, isolate the ESX host and troubleshoot on it without the VC. Once it is functioning properly, rejoin it to the VC.

One day I will virtualise myself . . .
