Upgrade view 4.5 to 4.6 failed

Enviroment Vsphere 4.1 update 1. All servers windows 2008 R2. View 4.5

I was able to upgrade the connection server without any problems but when I started to upgrade composer it failed. The error message

The wizard was interrupted before Vmware View Composer could completely installed. Your system

has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.

Now composer has been removed. I have tried several times to fix the issue now I am waiting for tech support to get back with me.

Same thing happned to me, but i rebooted the vCenter server where View Composer was installed. After rebooting the installation worked. Not sure if the reboot helped or I just got lucky on the second attempt.

I have a similar environment as you vSphere 4.1 update 1. All servers windows 2008 R2. View 4.5

Thanks that solved my problem.

Funny thing is tech support didn`t try that either.

Composer end up with an extra data base record pointing to the server. It caused error messages when we try to recompose a vm. Had to call in support to get it resolved. I was told that it is better to remove connection server and composer before doing  an upgrade.

how was your extra DB record issue resolved ultimately?  I think I have the same exact issue.  Looks like everything else works but recomposing.

We had to call tech support and they actually had us edit the database field and remove the extra pointer to the server.

I would recommend calling tech support. Sorry could not be more helpful.
