Hi,
Correct me if i am wrong, but one of the many features of vcm is automated patching on WIndows machines ?
If i am right, i would like to understand how different or advantageous is the vcm's patching mechanism than the WIndows built-in patching system (windows update feature)?
Thanks.
the ultimate benefit is that the patch that will be applied with be within complainace as per the standards selected. this is not available with windows built in facility
Thanks for a quick answer.
So, does that mean i will be able to patch only those updates on windows which comply with the organization's security policy ?
In that case, will there be any possibility of missing a very critical security patch which might not comply with the org's security policies, which otherwise would have been updated directly by the windows "update" feature ?
Thanks.
Any security related patch which Microsoft releases whether via their Patch Tuesday process and/or via Windows Update is included in the vCM Windows Patching content feed. Regards.
this probabilty is very rare as normally all the crictical ones or to say most of the ones are covered by the compliance. and VCM may not make it complainace 100% but yes it will reduce the non-compliance % to minimum
hope this helps
