good morning
i have installed a esxi in a new server
the default datasore ( datasore1) is the internal sata disk
now this datastore in small for add a new virtual machine
can i add a new sata disk into server e configure it as a new datastore ?
thanks Alberto
You'll basically just add the disk, go to Configuration > Storage Adapters to verify that it has been recognized, and then go to Configuration > Storage and click Add Storage. The default block size for the datastore will be 1 MB. This will limit virtual disks to 256 GB. If you need larger, just choose 8 MB as the block size. There's no down side to going with a large block size.
Hi, if you prefer some screenshot, have a look at this: http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2010/08/vmware-add-datastore/
Sometimes, local datastores / disks that get added do not appear as you would expect them to. You can still however add them.
I have posted a quick guide at:

Good luck
