Still having issues with USB View 4.6

We are using Dell FX160 thin client embedded XP OS. We have USB CDROM drive connected and USB floppy drive. Sometimes the drives appear under Connect USB Device and sometimes it doesn`t. We have to disconnect the VM and reconnect to get the USB devices to show up. Also the Autoconnect USB Devices is checked but you allways have to click on a USB device to get it to appear in the VM.

are you using the windows firewall on the dell optiplex?  try disabling it if you are using it.  I have seen issues with the XP firewall blocking outgoing IP traffic randomly.  The other option is to put a rule in for the view clinet executables that need to chat with the session.

can you try out on another client say an existing windows PC installed with view client. this would allow you to troubleshoot whether it's the view or thin client issue. for my end the usb redirection works perfectly.

When you said perfectly what do you mean. Are you saying that auto usb connect works and you don`t have to attach the USB devices?

I will check this morning about the firewall and I will try a desktop to see if it works.

The problem we are having with the USB devices not showing up in the list to attach was resolved by putting a 30 second delay script in the startup. It appears that the

thin clients load the view client before the USB devices are detected by the thin client.

The autoconnect USB devices does not work. I still have to connect to each device every time I log off. Does anybody have that working and what can I try to resolve that problem. My end users really don`t like having to connect every time they need to use a USB device.

The item in the drop down is for newly plugged in devices, you can use a GPO or command line switch for devices already attached. wswc /? shows the different command line switches for startup and insert: -connectUSBOnStartup, -connectUSBOnInsert.
