Thin client - problem with graphic

Is there any way to improve graphic performance on thin client with RDP protocol?

We have HP t5540 thin clients (Windows CE) with 1GB RAM, View4.5 and Win7x32 VMs. Watching videos on for example Youtube is very hard, video and sounds are terrible. Is there any way to improve this, e.g. on thin client, or view or vsphere or VM...?

Thanks on any advice

Ask your supplier for a demo of a teradici PCoIP zero client device and you will be amazed about the easy use and speed of these devices !

I don't think you can do much with these thin and RDP. It is one good reason to go with PCoIP, but it's not supported on T5540.

Is it worse than using a RDP client? If no as I think, you are definitely limited by the RDP protocol.

Agree with Bart here. Although the power of a thin client can often affect the over all performance. In this case that is not your issue. Your bigger issue here is the RDP encoder and RDP protocol was not really engineered to handle video playback or higherend graphics.

Thanks.

Using RDP client is better as I can see, but not too much.

Adding more RAM in thin client or change graphic properties on VM will not help?

We have also a t5545 thin client with PCoIP protocols. The situation with video is much better but it is not like we want to be and like we expect reading about thin clients and pcoip.

Simple question: is it possible to have video and sound performance on any thin client like on normal pc?

I know my question sounds stupid but many people sometimes just wants to watch video clips or other easy simple things.

Thanks

It cannot be better than with the RDP client. Perhaps adding some RAM to the thin client would help, but don’t expect better performance than with a PC / RDP Client specially with T5540.

It is currently one of my “project” and all the recommendation is to go to a Wyse P20 zero client.

There is another thread titled T5545 or Wyse P20 in the same forum about it.
