For client pc

Another small beginner question.

I have now installed ESXi 4 and vSphere client and have sucessfully installed my first virtual machine, a Window 7 pc.

Now this will be great to have for me to test new gpo, printer drivers, appl etc.

But it is only for me, only accessible via vSphere client console or remote destop.

Now if I would like to virtualize some of the users computers (xp and win7) what tool should one use then?

Thinapp is for virtualize the applications, you keep your own deskop and run the applications on the virtual host server?

Workstations is for heavier stuff? several computers in a test enviroment?

View is for cloud computing?

If I just want to move a low performance user to a virtual environment for easy updating, service etc. I should use?

For a minimum View enviroment you must have:

- at least one ESX/ESXi host

- a Windows Server with a AD DC

- a Windows Server with vCenter Server and View Composer

- a Windows Server with View Manager

- some Windows XP or 7 virtual desktop with View Agent

- at least one client with View client

All Windows system could be under VM. The client is better if is physical.

Hi.

I have just watched the commercial videos on VMwares sites so far, got the impression that view was more if you wanted your computer in the cloud.
Could be wrong of me, will check it out some more.

that's one business case of it, have a look here and perhaps you could get more ideas:

Have been looking into VMware View some more and there is a bundle of programs.

Just to try it out in the simplest of ways, one client pc as a virtual machine.

do I need all the programs installed and configured? VMware View Agent, composer, connection server, client, manager.

Can they reside on the same server? What to start with?

I'm trying to figure this out on my spare time at work and as you can see I am complete new at this.
