Permissions to restore a VM from VDR 1.2

Hi,

We´re having troubles to restore a VM correctly backed up by VDR 1.2. The logs says this:

TVmConnection::SaveVM: failed to create virtual machine "VM.RECOVERED", error: 1317 (vcbAPI:

invalid permissions)

10/13/2010 13:04:26.000: 0xa2031d40: RAPIRefMap::ProXUpdating: msg = ProXAdd, paref = 44, refnum = 9,086

10/13/2010 13:04:26.000: 0xa2031d40: $[*20750]Trouble writing files, error -3958 ( invalid permissions)

The user who trys the restore has a role with the following permissions, at VCenter Server level, propagated:

  • Datastore > Allocate Space (effective on datastore)

  • Datastore > Browse (effective on datastore)

  • Global > Licenses

  • Network > Assign network (effective on network or network folder)

  • Resource > Assign virtual machine to resource pool (effective on resource pools)

  • Virtual Machine > Configuration > Add existing disk

  • Virtual Machine > Configuration > Add new disk (effective on virtual machines)

  • Virtual Machine > Configuration > Add or remove device (effective on virtual machines)

  • Virtual Machine > Configuration > Change resource

  • Virtual Machine > Configuration > Disk lease

  • Virtual Machine > Configuration > Remove disk

  • Virtual Machine > Configuration > Settings

  • Virtual Machine > Inventory > Create new

  • Virtual Machine > Inventory > Create from existing

Are we missing any permission?

Thanks in advance.

Did you figure this out? I'm trying out vDR 1.2 on my test-environment and running a "Restore Rehearsal" gives me some of the same error:

Trouble writing files, error -3958 ( invalid permissions)

My user is a domain admin. vDR runs under a 'vmware' domain user, with all the credential settings the admin guide ask for, on top-level.
