Parallel SCSI vs Block Adapter

I'm testing VMware in my lab.  I just added a hardware RAID card (PERC 6/i) to my host and initialized two 500GB drives as RAID0.  vSphere Client shows the adapter as vmhba1, transport: Parallel SCSI.  The other adapters (vmhba0, vmhba32, and vmhba35 for ESX, datastore1, and cdrom) use an on-board controller and are all listed as Block Adapter.

Why does the RAID device use a different transport mode?  What are the implications?

I don't think RDM is possible for "block scsi" adapters, via the client anyway.
