AD Integration & Host Profile problem

Hi,

I have successfully setup AD integration with ESXi 4.1, I have created a host profile from the AD integrated host. When I try to apply this host to another it prompts me for my username and password to add it to the domain but then just stops there. All I can then do is to hit the cancel button.

My thoughts are that when I added the original host to the domain I specified a certain OU location e.g. mydomain.com/ESX_Servers which worked just fine, when the profile was first created from this host it just had mydomain.com as the doman string. I changed this to read mydomain.com/ESX_Servers. Maybe the profile doesn't accept this format like the GUI does? I cannot use just mydomain.com as I do not want the hosts created at the default level.

Your help is much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you are not alone:

What format are you entering the credentials? I believe you just enter the account name rather than domain\account name (and the password).

Let me know if that works.

Many thanks. I entered the credentials the same way as I did using the GUI - just the username & password, no domain\username.

I'll post once vmware have got back to me.

Cheers

same issue here.  able to add the host to domain using username and password similar to myuser@mydomain.com, mypassword, but will not work when applying host profile to new server to the cluster.  I have removed the AD integration part from my profile up to this point until VMware can work out the issue.
