The error indicates that ESXi is not able to recognize a NIC in the system (you probably have a Realtek NIC).  You can either add another NIC (like the Intel Pro 1000 GT) or try a community driver for the NIC - http://www.vm-help.com/esx40i/customize_oem_tgz.php. The MB also likely has a software RAID controller.  ESXi doesn't support software RAID so the best you'll get is individual disks.

i check a single hard with no raid, i mean do not configure raid on it, and it does not work either

I have basically the exact same issue on the almost the same gigabyte MB, no RAID enabled,  no add on NICs

It starts the install after accepting the license and freezes with this being the last line on the screen:

File "/lib/python2.5/vmctl.py", line 11328, Load def load(*args) : return _vmkctl:moduleImpl_Load(*args)

vmkctl.HostCtlException: unable to load module

/usrt/lib/vmware/vmkmod/vmfs3: failure

Any ideas?

Basically the same idea as Dave already mentioned above.Spend about 30$ and get an Intel PRO/1000 GT NIC.

At this post:  http://communities.vmware.com/message/1706838#1706838 it appears this GB mother board MB uses Realtek for onboard nic.

So - if I get a new nic and plug it in, a supported nic of course, should this work?

Yes it should work just fine. The NIC mentioned above would be a good choice and quite inexpensive.
