Hello
Can you help me?
I can't manage the hosts in vCenter, the hosts not responding.
When I make connect from vCenter to hosts, hosts have state "connected", but after some time (5-10sec) change state "not responding".
I can manage the ESX hosts direct from Vmware client, which installed in server where installed vCenter.
I can connect to the ESX hosts by ssh, on the port 902, I can ping the ESX hosts from vCenter.
All ESX hosts and vCenter for syncing time used same server.
I found some advices in KB
http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1008030
http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003409
But these didn't help.
I reinstalled agent on ESX hosts, but this didn't help.
is there any firewall in between the hosts and vcenter? another way if you have the flexibility to reinstall ESX, you could also reinstall vcenter 😃
Yes, there is, but all ports are open between hosts.
I think about reinstall, but I afraid the problem will not resolved.
do you have a vmware support agreement? that would be much faster way to solve the issue. another way is to screen thru the logs and look out for errors.
So you have aldready tried to disconnect and removed the hosts and then re-add them again? ..
If you use the vsphere client and connect directly to the esx you can screen through the logs ..
or if you surf to http://esxname/host

Yes, I tried

Import log very big. Screen in attached.
or if you surf to http://esxname/host
Yes, I can.
Just a couple of questions ..
1. When did this issue started? Where you doing some kind of configuration during the time?
2. If you look in the file vpxa.cfg located in /etc/opt/vmware/vpxa/ -
there are a <servierIp>ipadress</serverIp> , does that ip point to your vCenter?
3. the vpxuser, has that been modified in any way?

Just one more thing before i start to dig in the logfile ..
Do you have HA activated? If so, have you tried to disable HA, add the hosts and se if the problem occur even if HA is disabled?

This started 1 month ago.

Yes, these is the vCenter's ip addres
the vpxuser, has that been modified in any way?
No, never

I tried to disable, this didn't help.
Very strange.
Just to make certain that there are no firewall rule between vCenter and ESX, can you check the firewall logs for dropped packets from or to vCenter or vice versa?
And i suppose you´ve tried to reboot the esx boxes or at least the management agents? ..

I checked rules, all packets walk between servers

Yes, I restarted the agent and the host.
Running out of ideas here ..
Have you tried to add the host "outside" of a cluster? ..
Hi,
I would suggest adding the host as suggested outside a cluster and see if that works. If the server is then stable and stays connected after an hour or so then try an add it to the cluster.
If the problem the comes back you have a much bigger issue.
Hell
I resolved my problem. I reinstalled Vmware vCenter.
Thank you for support.
