Hello, I've been tasked by my management to do an audit of our VMWare servers. I need to find out which server licenses are installed and compare that to a list of purchases. If necessary we intend to renew support contracts etc.
I can't seem to figure it this out so how do you find which serial numbers are installed on ESX servers? This might be easy and I'm having vapor lock, but can someone point me in the right direction? Searching for this question hasn't found any hints.
ESX 3.5
ESXi 3.5
ESX 4
ESXi 4.0.1
ESXi 4.1
Thank you for reading this.

yes, that will work.
I think I've found this:
In the service console:
# cat /etc/vmware/vmware.lic
(Output contains key)...

It has been a while since I've seen 3.5 and not sure when the licensed features configuration page was added (maybe 4.0), but if you check out per ESX host under configuration if there is a "licensed features" under software it should list the features that are enabled along with the license it's using.

Yeah, it was momentary vapor lock. Sorry.
if you cat the following file:
/etc/vmware/vmware.lic you can obtain your installed serial numbers.
